Why Visit Sonoma County Wine Country?
Regions You'll Explore
The wineries in this guide span 4 distinct AVAs across Sonoma County.

Healdsburg
An upscale wine country hub featuring world-class wineries, farm-to-table dining, and a lively downtown plaza.

Sebastopol
A creative and eclectic town renowned for its organic farms, artisan culture, and small-town charm.

Sonoma
The historic heart of California wine country, famous for its picturesque plaza, rich heritage, and exceptional wineries.

Windsor
A family-friendly community offering a vibrant town green, easy wine country access, and a relaxed Sonoma County lifestyle.

Russian River Valley
Russian River Valley is a cool-climate AVA in central Sonoma County shaped by Pacific fog moving inland through the Russian River corridor. It is best known for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with old-vine Zinfandel, sparkling wines, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc also present.

Carneros
Carneros is a cool, bay-influenced AVA at the southern edge of Sonoma and Napa counties, known for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and traditional-method sparkling wine. Its low rolling hills, steady afternoon winds, and easy access from Sonoma and Napa make it one of the most approachable cool-climate regions in Northern California.

Carneros
Los Carneros is the cool, bay-influenced AVA at the southern end of Napa and Sonoma, known for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and sparkling wine. Fog, wind, and a long growing season give its wines higher acidity and more restrained fruit than much of inland Napa Valley.

Sonoma Valley
Sonoma Valley is a historic Sonoma County AVA running from San Pablo Bay toward the Mayacamas Mountains, with cool southern vineyards and warmer mountain and valley-floor sites. It is known for Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, and Merlot, with tasting rooms centered around the town of Sonoma.

"great wine tasting from Dustin. even though he had only been working there 3 months he had an extensive knowledge of the wines and the operations. although I am not really a white wine drinker and the 1st 2 wines were not to my liking. My wife liked 1 of the 2. we talked about their process and he explained their differences. very interesting and it explained a lot about my preferences. As he predicted, I really like the 3rd choice. we moved on to the reds which were actually quite nice. we purchased a couple of bottles to take home. to really drive the experience home he gave us some incredible advice for short road trips to take to see the area. very impressed with Dustin and his attentiveness to our needs!"
